How it works

Three steps to a finished look

Shoot in log

Record in your camera’s log profile and expose carefully. A LUT can only use what the camera captured, so good exposure matters most.

Monitor with it

Load the LUT on your camera or monitor as a preview to judge exposure and skin tones. The footage still records in log.

Apply it in post

Add the LUT in DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro or any editor that supports LUTs, then fine-tune exposure and white balance.

Good to know

What is a LUT?

A LUT (look-up table) is a small file that tells your editing software, camera or monitor how to translate one set of colors into another. Log footage looks flat and gray out of the camera so it can hold more detail. A LUT turns that flat image into a natural, watchable one and can add a cinematic look on top.

Do I have to shoot in log?

Yes. Each bundle is built for the log profile named on it (Sony S-Log2 or S-Log3, Z CAM Z-Log2, Blackmagic RAW). They are not made for footage with a color profile already baked in.

Which editing software works?

DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or any editor that supports LUTs.

Can I use them on my camera or monitor?

On cameras and external monitors that accept LUTs, load one as a preview so you can judge exposure and skin tones with the look applied. The footage still records in log.

Will it look perfect with no adjustments?

Treat it as a strong starting point. For the best results expose to the right, set white balance correctly in the field, and expect a small temperature or tint tweak depending on your lighting.

Dial In Accurate Exposure Every Time

Shooting in Sony S-Log3 can be tricky—underexposure often introduces noise, especially when using Sony’s built-in Rec.709 LUT or “Display Assist.” While exposing to the right (ETTR) using your histogram can help, it often leads to blown-out highlights when previewing with standard LUTs.
